Visits by Foreign Researchers from Various Programs

Academic exchange agreement signed with Xi'an Institute of Technology (China) Dr. Zhuang Nansheng from the Hainan University in China, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chahota from the CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University in India have been visiting since September and Associate Dr. Umesh Chandra Lavania director of the genetic breeding department and deputy director of the National Central Institute for Medical Aromatic Plants in India has been visiting since November.

Dr. Zhuang Nansheng is going to be conducting research for six months on “Molecular Cytogenetics in Plants – Identification of Genes or Specific DNA arrays using the FISH technique” with support from the “development of human resource programs in China” yen loan project for China by the Bank for International Cooperation. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chahota will research, with the help of young scientists from the Department of Science and Technology in India, for eight months on the “Physical Mapping of chromatin, another species of Himalaya rye in Triticum aestivum, using the Molecular cytogenetics technique”, and Dr. Umesh Chandra Lavania will research for 1 month on “Application of the Polyploid model to stabilize the heterozygosis in plants and its molecular basis” as part of the Invitation Fellowship Programs for Research in Japan by the Japan society for the Promotion of Science at our university.

Yasuhiko Mukai, Professor of Nature Studies, hosted three professors researching “Adoption of useful wheat-rye chromatin to triticum aestivum using chromosome elimination techniques and molecular cytology techniques” by the two countries (with India) in collaboration with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and has previously been conducting collaborative research with 2 researchers from India.

Following a greeting, the three professors, along with professor Mukai, visited our president on November 20 to pay their respects, and they talked about their various research in India and China in a friendly atmosphere from beginning to end.

We are expecting to actively invite researchers from other countries in the future, which will hopefully lead to research development in the respective countries.
